RUNNING group, Emearld Runners is preparing for its next challenge - the Capricorn Coast Running Festival.
Held over the long weekend at Yeppon, the beachside festival features events ranging from a 5km walk/run to a 21km half marathon. A number of Emerald Runners will participate.
Runner Madonna Drummond said the group is a supportive community consisting of people of different ages and abilities.
"We have ages ranging from early 20s to mid 50s. And running abilities of the members range from beginners to ultra marathon runners, and everything in between,” she said.
"It's something that anyone can take part in no matter what their goal.”
The group runs every Wednesday at 6am from the windmill at the Botanic Gardens.
The weekly run is an hour long - half an hour out and half an hour in. This ensures everyone finishes together and at the same place.
Runner Donna Oliver said the run style enabled everybody to support and encourage each other.
"It's always a great morning spent with others. People just come along and do what they can do. There is no pressure and there is always someone who runs or walks at a similar pace,” she said.
The group members encourage anyone to join or to attend as training before the running festival. To find out more, search them on Facebook.
