GLADSTONE sporting starlet Georgia Armitage has been named senior sports person of the year at the 2012 Yaralla Sport Star of the Year awards.

The teenager has represented Queensland in volleyball, and the region and her school in softball, hockey and athletics.

Georgia said she was shocked to be announced the winner out of such a high calibre group of sports people.

"It feels good," Georgia said,

"You know everyone around you has achieved the same level."

The Junior Sport Star of the Year Award went to Alex Mather.

Mick Daly was awarded Club Person of the Year and the Observer Luke Woof Memorial Award went to all-rounder Megan Hunt.
