Olympic gold stolen from paralympian's home

POLICE are searching for thieves who stole a 2012 London Olympics gold ring from a Paralympian home.

The burglary occurred at athlete Shelley Chaplin's Melbourne home on Thursday.

Police believe the offenders broke in through the back door and stole the Olympic memento from a bedside table.

The burglars also stole cash after ransacking the rest of the home.

Police say Ms Chaplin is devastated and appealing for public help for its return.

Ms Chaplin, 28, is a wheelchair basketball player who won silver at the London Olympics.
