WITH a state championships meet in her sights, Annabelle Kerle led the way for Emerald gymnasts competing at the Victoria Park Invitational in Rockhampton late last month.
The Emerald Gymnastics and Trampoline Club member started with a first in trampoline level 3A, and a near perfect run in the double-mini trampoline level 3.
Kerle, who has been a cornerstone at the Central Highlands-based club, scored a phenomenal 29.36 points out of a possible 30 in the double-mini discipline.
The regional tournament was the perfect staging ground for Kerle and fellow Emerald flyers heading into the Queensland Championships later this year, where at least six Emerald teams compete.
Emerald club spokeswoman Sue Fehlhaber said it was important for the junior gymnasts to get the feel for as many competition arenas as possible before the big meet.
"The trampolines can be
different to what they're used to when they go away," Sue said.
"Some have more give in them than others."
Full medal results from Rockhampton will appear in next Wednesday's CQ News.
