THE challenge of riding on a fresh track was realised in Round Two of the Yamaha 2009 Queensland Motocross Championship.
More than 200 riders buzzed around Mosquito Creek, a 'well-prepped track' in its first outing as host to such a high-profile event.
“A great weekend was held at the Emerald Junior Motocross Club,” said club spokesperson Natasha Alexander.
“Track conditions were perfect (and there were) not many injuries.”
Central Highlanders rode themselves into top 10 positions in the 11 classes on the nomination form.
In the Division 2, 50cc class, Dylan Gook from Blackwater, continued his good form, placing first, Middlemount's Jayce Gosford was fourth and Mitchell Alexander of Emerald placed sixth.
Clermont rider Kirstie Brooks, competing in the Senior Womens' division rode herself into fifth position.
Jayden Morgan from Blackwater, riding in the 10 - 12 year age group, 65cc class, came eighth.
Dysart's Mitchell Dark rode himself into tenth position in the 7 - 9 years, 65cc class and Jake Gook, competing in the 15-year, 250cc class, from Blackwater, placed fourth in his division.
The final round of the Queensland Motocross Championships will be held at the Tivoli Raceway, North of Ipswich, on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5.
At the time of going to print, Central Queensland News was unable to obtain state placings after the Round Two event.
