FLYING SAVE: Seen here at a practice session, Melbourne Victory's keeper Mitchell Langerak saved a goal at last Tuesday night's match against Wellington Phoenix.
MITCHELL Langerak is ecstatic Melbourne Victory is back on top of the A-league ladder after a stunning win on Tuesday night against Wellington Phoenix.
“We are back on top of the ladder,” said a happy Langerak as he prepared to board a flight to the Gold Coast yesterday.
“We are playing the Gold Coast tonight and it will be a very important game up there.
“The Gold Coast are on top of the ladder as well and being such an important game, I hope we do well.”
The former Tieri Tiger was instrumental in the game with a fine reflex save between the posts to deny the Wellington side a chance to score.
“Obviously we were happy to get the win,” he admitted.
“It wasn’t the easiest thing you know, backing up after playing the game on Saturday night against Adelaide.
“But really, to back up like that is a good effort from all the boys and then to get the win, a good win, we are really happy with our form leading into tonight’s match.”
With the finals beckoning and a third Hyundai A-League title firmly in the Melbourne Victory’s sights, Langerak is mindful the players should not get ahead of themselves.
“We have three games to go and at the moment, they are all important to us,” Langerak said.
Langerak is also happy about the inclusion of Costa Rican player Marvin Angulo in the team’s line-up.
“He has played about three matches so far and he’s done pretty well since he’s come in,” Langerak said.
