THE COMPANY

Ensham Resources (a joint venture majority owned by Idemitsu Australia Resources) is the operator of a coal mine complex located 40km north east of Emerald in the Bowen Basin, in Central Queensland.  Ensham comprises an open cut mine currently operating a dragline and an expanding underground bord and pillar operation. It mines high energy low ash thermal coal and total annual production is approximately 5 million tonnes per year.

 

Ensham is amongst the most productive underground bord and pillar operations in the world.  This success has created its own issues.  The faster and harder we operate the more we push out plant beyond their duty cycles.  This requires us to have a different need/speed.

 

These roles are an opportunity for lesser experienced but very energetic and practical persons to position themselves for internal promotion or for experienced persons seeking an environment to apply their skills/knowledge and wisdom that they have not been afforded the opportunity to do at other workplaces.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Underground Mechanical Superintendent (MEM) you will be responsible for: 

  • Coordinating Mechanical & Face Equipment activities at the underground operation
  • Supporting the production department by providing reliable, well maintained, equipment and machinery
  • Applying the SHMS procedures and Engineering standards
  • Leading a systematic approach to the identification and delivery of sustainable and improved Mechanical maintenance processes and procedures
  • Ensuring that the systems and procedures to achieve Mechanical statutory compliance are followed and monitored
  • Contributing to strategies to minimise the Mechanical costs and maximise equipment availability
  • Supporting the maintenance team to safely deliver the Mechanical Engineering Department’s objectives and improve engineering performance
  • Develop, coach and mentor team members

 

THE PERSON

To be considered a suitable candidate for this position you will have the following experience and background:

  • Trade Certificate or Tertiary qualification in relevant field or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • Minimum 4yrs experience with underground coal mining maintenance supervision and coordination
  • Experience with development face equipment is a must
  • Experience in the development and use of SAP is an advantage
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Experience in planning the cost-effective management of Mechanical assets
  • A commitment to safe work practices
  • Knowledge of current Mechanical engineering technologies

THE ROSTER

The roster for these positions is a 7 on 7 off rotating day shift only roster with Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) provisions available.
