10-year-old boy charged with Arson after Mt Isa fire

A 10-year-old boy has been charged with arson after a police station in the north-west Queensland mining town of Mount Isa was gutted by fire early Saturday.

The boy remained in custody on Saturday night. Police are believed to be opposing bail.

The 10-year-old was one of two children questioned by police after the station went up in flames in a suspected torching about 1.45am.

A 13-year-old girl was questioned and released without charge.

A number of residents called emergency services to report the police beat at Pioneer, in the town's inner east, was ablaze. There were also several reports of explosions.
