11 die in weekend horror crashes

IT'S been a horror weekend on the nation's roads, with 11 people killed and several critically injured.

Five people died in one accident in Victoria's west when a car and truck collided at an intersection in Penshurst near Hamilton around lunchtime yesterday.

A woman was freed from the wreckage and remains in a critical condition in a Melbourne hospital.
