16-year-old allegedly caught doing burnouts in stolen ute

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act following a dangerous driving incident at Mudgeeraba last night.

At around 1.30am police were made aware of a utility allegedly doing burn-outs on Mudgeeraba Road.

Police located the alleged stolen vehicle as it turned right into Tallai Road, before a pursuit ensued along Old Coach Road.

It will be alleged that the vehicle crossed onto the wrong side of Old Coach Rd and also on Franklin Drive for a period of time.

It will be further alleged that the vehicle travelled onto the incorrect side of the roundabout at Railway Street and travelled along the Link Way, before losing control on Railway Street, hitting a traffic island.

A male passenger in the utility left the vehicle on-foot.

Police continued to follow the utility onto the north bound lanes of the M1, when the vehicle pulled over just before the Exit 75 off-ramp.

The male driver was then arrested by police.

A 16-year-old Mermaid Waters boy has been charged with one count each of fail to stop motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving of a motor vehicle without a driver's licence.
