19-year-old seriously assaulted on Shakespeare Street

QUEENSLAND Police are appealing for a woman to come forward after the serious assault of a man found lying on a  Shakespeare St footpath this morning.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said it is believed the man, 19, was talking to an Indigenous woman prior to the assault.

The spokesperson said the man suffered lacerations to his head and facial injuries that required surgery.

A Mackay Base Hospital spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition and would remain in hospital tonight.
