A BELLBIRD Park man charged with violently sexually assaulting a woman 20 years ago has had his case adjourned until later this week.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with five sexual offences including indecent assault, rape and deprivation of liberty earlier this year after police allegedly obtained new DNA evidence.
In March 1996, a 17-year-old woman was walking in Woolloongabba when she was allegedly attacked.
Last year the man provided police with a DNA sample for an unrelated matter and police allege this matched evidence taken at the time of the 1996 assault.
The man was not required to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday and his case was adjourned until Friday.
The prosecution wants the man to surrender his passport. - APN NEWSDESK
