THE Captur, Renault's stylish crossover is finally available in Australia following impressive worldwide success with almost 200,000 units sold last year alone.
With a choice of two turbo-petrol engines - the three-cylinder TCe 90 paired with a manual five-speed gearbox and the TCe 120 with four cylinders and a six-speed auto - the Captur is expected to help the French brand gain traction in the burgeoning light SUV segment.
It is available in two generous specification levels - Expression and Dynamique - with a mid-market starting price from $22,990.
"Thanks to the incredibly clever packaging of the interior space and the sliding rear bench seat, Captur is readily able to accommodate all aspects of our modern and busy lifestyles.
"Captur is set to become a core model in the Renault Australia passenger car range and I'm certain that it will bring more new customers to the Renault family than ever before."
Renault says that it has used the experience gained in F1 to ensure the Captur has the carefully-honed aerodynamics and low weight to ensure it has the best fuel economy in its class with the TCe 90 reportedly using just 4.9 litres/100km and the auto TCe 120 5.4l/100km.
A big part of its appeal will also lie in the Captur's extensive personalisation programme which will allow buyers to choose a number of permutations of two-tone bodywork, wheel colours and interior trims.
Like all Renault passenger cars, the Captur has a five year/unlimited kilometre warranty and five years' roadside assist.
All vehicles in the Captur range have one year servicing intervals or 15,000km and are covered by Renault's capped price servicing program.
The first three services are capped at $299 per service.
Captur Expression TCe 90 MT - from $22,990
