24-hour bowl for baby Bronson
FRIENDS and community members have gathered around Bronson Simpson, the little boy who tragically lost his mother and sister in a triple murder-suicide in May.
The three-year-old is now being raised by his doting grandparents John and Julie Simpson after the passing of his mother Tania Simpson, 31, his five-year-old sister Kyla and his mother's friend Antony Way at the hand of his father Paul Rogers, who committed suicide.
Brothers Doug and David Kirby have pledged to bowl for a marathon 24 hours to raise funds for Bronson.
The event for Bronson will take place on Saturday, November 19 at the AMF Bowling Centre at Robina Town Centre, starting at 6am and finishing on Sunday, November 20 at 6am.
"Everybody has been so kind; we never expected anything like this," Mrs Simpson said.
"Doug's little girl was in the same class as Kyla, so I guess he felt like he should do something. They are all very good people," Mr Simpson said.
"Since it happened we have had so much support from so many people."
Bronson's teacher, Narelle Myers at Smarter Kids Kindergarten, has been a tower of strength for the family and organised the event.
"Bronson is very loved at kindy. I organised a fundraiser for him in July and we raised over $10,000," Ms Myers said.
"The money is for Bronson, to be saved for him or to help with his education and care in the future if Julie and John ever need it.
"They are very doting grandparents."
Doug Kirby said the tragic incident has impacted his family and he is willing to do anything to help little Bronson.
"My daughter Kiara goes to prep at Robina Primary School and they were paired with buddies. She was paired with Kyla and they became best friends," Mr Kirby said.
"Just a few nights ago she cried because she missed Kyla. Even though they are gone they are never forgotten."
Dave Kirby said every donation would help.
"People can sponsor us for strikes, scores or just make a donation," he said.
"This is such a great cause and we encourage people to get involved."
