A GLOBAL energy company that plans to be established in Toowoomba by early next year has put the call out for 400 new workers.
Saxon Energy Services has secured contracts with Santos and QGC to undertake major coal seam gas drilling campaigns across the Surat and Bowen basins.
The Canada-based company will establish a new service centre in Toowoomba.
Within the first few months of 2012, drill rigs will begin arriving with the final delivery to take place by October.
Eventually, there will be 13 rigs supported out of Toowoomba.
The company's Australian manager, Daniel Marcano, said 400 new workers would be needed to support Saxon's operations.
He urged people from Toowoomba and the wider region to apply for the positions, which range from rig managers to mechanics, electricians and safety training co-ordinators.
Mr Marcano said the move into Toowoomba marked a pivotal milestone in Saxon's global expansion.
"This represents a big opportunity in terms of our overall strategy to consolidate our presence in Australia."
Mr Marcano said opportunities would also exist for Toowoomba companies to support and service Saxon's drill rigs.
