Australian critically injured in horrific Spain bus crash
A COMMUNITY is rallying around a local family after their mother was seriously injured in a horrific bus crash while on holiday in Spain.
Chinchilla woman Michelle Jenner's mum Julie Ann Fiegert is currently in a critical in the Burgos Hospital of Madrid, having suffered crushed legs, a torn spleen, numerous broken bones, lacerations and bruising and a severed pulmonary artery.
On September 19, Julie Ann, a resident of Burpengary, had just finished the holiday of a lifetime walking part of the El Camino trail with friends from France to Spain.
She was almost ready to head home to Australia when the bus she was on collided with a truck on the highway in Soria, north of Madrid.
Sitting in the front seat, the man next to Julie Ann was killed in the accident.
Forty-five other passengers were injured in the accident, some of them critically.
Mrs Jenner has setup a Gofundme charity page to raise money for her mum's immediate medical bills.
The page has so far raised an incredible $6,595 in just three days.
"Julie Ann does have travel insurance but we don't know how long until this is going to work out," Mrs Jenner wrote.
"She is going to have a very very long stay in this hospital in Madrid and need multiple surgeries as well as therapies, recovery sessions and many costs to keep dad over in Spain by her side the entire time.
"Please share and donate, help my mum get the very best medical treatment possible and get her home safely soon! If you know of another way to help her...do it. Thankyou so much for donating."
