71-year-old man declared missing from medical facility found

UPDATE: A 71-year-old man reported missing in Malanda overnight has this morning been located safe and well.

Police would like to pass on their sincerest thanks to the members of the local community and SES who assisted with the search.

EARLIER: A 71-year-old man has been reported missing from a medical facility at Malanda overnight.

Owen Johnston was last seen at the Turnbull Road facility just before midnight.

He hasn't been heard from since and suffers from a medical condition which can cause disorientation.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 172cm tall with a thin build and grey hair.

Mr Johnston was last seen wearing an Akubra hat, orange high-vis shirt, shorts and slippers.

Anyone who has seen him is being urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
