Child advocates to be recognised for Child Protection Week

QUEENSLAND'S most heroic child advocates are to be recognised as part of the state's Child Protection Week that runs from September 7.

Those in the running have until Friday July 4 to nominate or be nominated for the accolade, which has previously been won by Denise and Bruce Morcombe and Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnson.

PeakCare Queensaland researcher and Queensland Child Protection Week chair Lorraine Dupree said in light of the Federal Royal Commission into sexual abuse, it was time to highlight the best of human nature.

"Keeping children safe is everybody's business and these awards honour those who have stepped up, who have given their all to protect our children," she said.

Nine awards will be offered.
