LOOKING for a bite to eat? You won’t get better than Hayman’s La Fontaine: that was the verdict of judges who named it Restaurant of the Year at the 2010 Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence in Queensland.
La Fontaine, which dishes up modern European cuisine in a classical setting of Louis XV1 furnishings and crystal chandeliers, was also named Best European Restaurant.
The luxury Whitsundays resort also took out the Corporate Caterer of the Year, Best European Restaurant, Best Asian Restaurant, Best Breakfast Restaurant and Best Wedding Caterer at the awards, which were held in Brisbane earlier this month.
Hayman’s signature resort dining experience, The Chef’s Table, was awarded Best Tourism Restaurant: its guests are taken behind the scenes into the main kitchen to see its workings, overseen by executive chef Glenn Bacon, who’s culinary presentation and delivery recently won him highly commended in the 2010 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.
Hayman general manager Shane Green acknowledged the dedication and determination of Chef Bacon and his team in continuing to raise the benchmark in culinary excellence at the resort.
“These awards are a fantastic achievement and are testament to a highly creative and innovative group of people,” he said.
Hayman will compete at the Savour Australia National Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence in Melbourne in October.
