DOMESTIC violence campaigner Rosie Batty was named the Australian of the Year on Sunday, one of four women to take out the 2015 Australia Day Awards.
Ms Batty rose above the devastating loss of her 11-year-old son Luke at the hands of his father to become one of the many faces campaigning for an end to domestic violence.
The 2015 awards mark the first time all four Australia Council awards have gone to women.
Other winners were: Young Australian of the Year Drisana Levitzke-Gray; Senior Australian of the Year Jackie French and Australia's Local Hero Juliette Wright.
