Syrian rebels demand weapons in return for peace meeting

REBELS in Syria have ruled out attending proposed peace talks in Geneva unless more arms and ammunition are provided to their efforts.

The New York Times reported on Sunday the Syrian Opposition forces had ruled out the talks.

Opposition leader General Salim Idris was reported as saying "There will be no Geneva".

The statement comes after the United Nations agreed to organise the peace talks for later this year.

Gen Idris told the NYT while he supported the idea for the talks, if things did not change on the ground, the Opposition would not attend.
