Man faces court charged with murder of woman, 26

A MAN charged with the murder of a 26-year-old woman appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

New South Wales Police allege the 33-year-old murdered Leila Alavi, reportedly his estranged wife and an apprentice hairdresser, in Auburn in Sydney.

Emergency services were called to an underground car park at a shopping centre on Saturday where they found Ms Alavi's body inside a vehicle.

The ABC reported the man's name was Mokhtar Hosseiniamraei and police allege he stabbed Ms Alavi with a pair of scissors.

It was reported he was not granted bail.

Mr Hosseiniamraei was also charged with an apprehended violence order.

Police arrested him on Saturday at 7pm in Guildford West in Sydney.
