Spray tanner’s insane price policy

A SPRAY tanning business has been slammed online for wanting to charge a potential customer extra because she is larger than her "regular clients".

A woman who wanted to know about spray tanning prices contacted the tanner - believed to be working for herself - via Facebook Messenger.

But her shocking response has left people outraged.

Things started innocently enough, with the curious customer writing: "Hey girl! I noticed you didn't have a price list on your insta and was wondering how much for the 1 hr express spray tan."

"Hey hun. It's $35 for a 1 hour express," the spray tanner responds before eagerly asking the woman what her size is.

"I just had a look at your Instagram and I'm just wondering what size you are??"

Keeping the conversation light, the clients responds: "Oh haha, I'm a size 10-12 why is that?"

That's when the spray tanner explains her regular clients are a maximum size 8 and she would charge the woman an extra $20 "as there's more surface area if you know what I mean".

The exchange of messages between the client and spray tanner was uploaded to Facebook.

Many commenters, some of whom were also spray tanners, were baffled by the woman's fee structure as most spray tanning services charged a flat fee, regardless of size.

"Wow! I am a qualified spray tan tech and would never charge extra because of size, clients pay for the service not the product," one said.

"I'd want to know how she worked out her fees. I hope the client replied and asked her to mathematically prove that $20 extra correlates exactly to the additional surface area."

One woman said, "In that case my spray tan would cost my fat arse $125."

"It's blatant discrimination," said another.

Others said in their 10 years in the industry they had never come across anything like this, or even thought to ask a client to pay up for being bigger.

"I'm seriously stunned! God!!! I used to be over 100kg I'm now 70kg with a mummy tummy and excess skin … I wonder what I'd be charged," one commenter posted.
