Accident causes delays

EMERALD motorists experienced big city traffic congestion after a two-vehicle prang at the intersection of the Capricorn and Gregory Hwys.

A Mack truck failed to give way to oncoming motorists and collided with a red Hyundai Getz just before 5pm Monday.

Officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Graeme Reeves said the truck driver was turning right from the Gregory Hwy on to the Capricorn Hwy when it hit the Getz, causing moderate damage. The 20-year-old Getz driver was taken to the Emerald Hospital for precautionary tests.

She was later released.

The 31-year-old truck driver was given a ticket for failing to give way when turning right.
