FORMER tennis pro Adam and his wife Carol have set the benchmark on My Kitchen Rules.
The newlyweds are now the team to beat in the second round of instant restaurants on the reality cooking show.
But their three-course evening wasn't without its hiccups.
The past two episodes have shown that tennis coach Adam is prone to speak in sporting analogies, and tonight was no exception.
The competitive couple, or "doubles team", blitzed through their preparations thanks to an extensive to-do list.
But an early spanner was thrown in the works when Carol mistakenly made two cheesecakes without any raspberries, as promised on their menu.
They forged on, serving up pretty lobster rice paper rolls that lacked a flavour punch.
"I enjoyed the sauce… but I felt the roll itself apart from the lobster didn't have much flavour in the role, until I realised the flavour that was missing was in the bottom of this basket," Manu said.
Adam then decided to make a quick dash to the shops to get more ingredients for a third cheesecake.
The main course made up for the flavour lacking in the entrée.
"I thought it was delicious," Pete said.
"This is what I'm looking for in the competition, just delicious dishes.
"I'm not going to say this is perfect because it's not. What was perfect was your prawns. They were to die for; they were cooked as a chef would cook them."
Adam's risk of going back out to the shops paid off, with the third cheesecake impressing most of the diners around the table.
Pete said it was home cooking with a touch of refinement, and plated with finesse.
"It looked elegant. The texture of that cheesecake is one of the best I've ever had," he said.
Oyster farmers Matt and Rob will host their instant restaurant tomorrow night.
