Adults brawl as children get picked up from school

TWO people have been remanded in custody after a disturbing fight on Exhibition Rd, Gympie, on Wednesday afternoon.

Gympie police said that about 3.20pm, just after school had finished, a fight allegedly broke out between two men and two women near the Southside General Store, next door to Gympie South State School.

Nine 000 calls were made to police reporting the incident, which occurred in front of children being picked up from school.

Police said one man allegedly went to his car during the fight and returned with a metal pole or bat.

No one was assaulted with the weapon.

All four people were charged with public nuisance offences.

Three people, including both females, were arrested and taken to the Gympie watchhouse.

While one woman was released on bail, the man and other woman remained in custody after a brief appearance in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Each of the four alleged offenders will appear in court at later dates.
