Agnes Blues and Roots Festival set to be better than ever

GUITARS, saxophone and strings of electrifying resonance.

The Agnes Blues and Roots Festival is back and is set to be better than ever for the Central Queensland region, on February 22-24.

The three-day event is in its fifth year and generally attracts up to one thousand patrons per day over the occurrence.

The festival includes a magnificent line up of performers from The Black Sorrows, L'il Fi and Kate Leahy to 8 Ball Aitken and the Mason Rack Band.

For 2013 there is also an added second stage for solo, duos and trios.

Stage two will showcase the talents of many up and coming local musicians over the three days.

Gladstone Entertainment Centre (GEC) marketing manager Garry Hansen said he is very much looking forward to the entire festival.

"This year, we're really lucky - we got L'il Fi," he said in relation to having some of the country's top female blues artists.

"We're also very lucky to have Kate Leahy.

"She's one of those break-through artists."

Festival patrons are from diverse geographic locations with many travelling from Rockhampton, the Central Highlands, Bundaberg and the Fraser Coast as well as the Gladstone region.
