
Airport evacuated after man reportedly doused in petrol
An EVACUATION is under way at Cairns Airport after a man reportedly doused himself in petrol.
A Cairns Airport spokeswoman said the incident had been brought under control, although the domestic terminal was evacuated on Friday evening.
She said they were looking at returning to normal operations shortly.
In a statement, the Australian Federal Police said a man had been taken into custody for his own protection.
"The airport terminal has been evacuated due to the need to clean up flammable liquid that has been spilt," a spokesman said.
