Alleged Bandido charged over Broadbeach rioting

OFFICERS from Taskforce Maxima have charged a 25-year-old Runcorn man over the Broadbeach riot which sparked Queensland's tough anti-bikie laws.

Police said the arrest followed the incident at the nightclub and restaurant precinct on Surf Parade, Broadbeach on September 27, 2013.

The incident involved members from the Bandidos Criminal Motorcycle Gang and two members associated with the 66 Street Crew, affiliated with the Finks CMG.

It will be alleged the man is a participant of the Bandidos Criminal Motorcycle Gang.

The man has been charged with one count of rioting and is due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of Taskforce Maxima said that this was another example of police's relentless follow up of the Broadbeach incident.

"We will take all opportunities to take enforcement action where the evidence allows," Detective Inspector Smith said.

"Criminal gang members need to understand this.  The answer for them is simple, don't commit offences and disassociate from the gang."
