Alleged Sunlander rape case adjourned until February

OUTSTANDING medical evidence has resulted in the matter of an alleged rape on the Sunlander train to be adjourned for another month.

A 50-year-old man, who cannot named until he is committed for trial, stands accused of raping a 27-year-old woman sometime overnight on October 27/28 while the train was between Rockhampton and Mackay.

The Rockhampton man appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court today via video link.

Defence lawyer Marty Doyle, of ATSI Legal Services, said he was seeking some outstanding medical evidence in relation to the charge.

Prosecution were hoping to obtain the material within the next month.

The matter was adjourned to early February.
