ONE of Queensland’s best bed and breakfasts, Amamoor Lodge, will be showcased at the Sydney Opera House next month, when a select group of properties go under the hammer at a prestige property auction.

It’s a rare chance to purchase the award-winning business that is also a magnificently presented country family home and wildlife haven, Ray White Pomona’s Ann Maree Margetts said.

“It’s so unique,” Ms Margetts said.

“I’ve seen quite a few bed and breakfasts over the years and this is of a very high standard, and that’s reflected in the many awards it’s received and the media coverage it has attracted over the years.”

The idea to hold first-class property auctions at the Opera House is because buyer interest for listings of this calibre comes from right across Australia and the world, Ms Margetts said. So it gives select properties a world stage.

Owned for some 23 years by John and Cynthia Hayes, the property has been placed on the market reluctantly.

It’s been a labour of love transforming the old Sanders farm into an oasis for tourists and wildlife alike, but a serious illness in the family means it must be sold and offers will be considered prior to the March 28 auction date.

Nestled on acres of rolling green hills, the lodge is a short 15 minute drive from Gympie and only 40 minutes from the Sunshine Coast.

Guests from all over the world have visited the bed and breakfast over the years to enjoy the country hospitality, elegant surroundings, abundance of wildlife and many activities on offer.

Amamoor Lodge currently offers traditional bed and breakfast accommodation in the homestead’s beautifully appointed suites as well as accommodation in new detached, self-contained studio apartments.

“There are so many opportunities here for someone,” Ms Margetts said. “They could operate their business at home as well as run cattle and have a fantastic place to live.”
