Ambos trek along beach to patient after canoe accident

A HIGH tide on Saturday morning prevented ambulance officers from accessing a patient who suffered a suspected fractured rib after falling out of a canoe.

The QAS was called to Bangalee Beach about 7.30am to treat a woman in her 30s, who was complaining of sore ribs.

Due to the high tide the ambulance was not able to gain access to the beach, and officers had to walk about 500m along the sand to treat her.

The surf lifesaving club sent a buggy up the beach to transport her back to the ambulance.

The ambulance then transported her to Yeppoon Hospital, and she was then transferred to Rockhampton Hospital.
