Another Lutz to arrive at Brisbane Bandits

MAJOR League star Donald Lutz has captivated Bandits fans with five home runs after only signing midway through this ABL season - and another Lutz will join the Bandits next season.

Sascha Lutz - Donald's brother - will be at the franchise next summer.

Bandits CEO Mark Ready revealed to APN he will arrive in Brisbane on February 13.

Donald, who has played 62 games with the Cincinnati Reds at Major League level, re-signed with the Reds earlier this month.

He has made a good recovery from Tommy John surgery and is hoping to resurrect his MLB career this year.

The 26-year-old has thrilled Bandits fans with his power hitting, crushing those five homers in just 27 games this summer, with a .272 average.

But he openly admitted with a smile that his brother Sascha, 32, can be just as good on his day.

The two have represented Germany together, and will hope to do so again in World Baseball Classic qualifiers in Mexico, in March.

"He's one of the top hitters in Germany - he hit about .380 this year and he's still in the national team," Donald Lutz said.

"He can hit and he can run.

"He plays mainly outfield - he's pretty fast."

It was Sascha who hit the winning run for Heidenheim in the top level of the most recent German championship playoff series.

Ready has a close bond with the Lutz family, and will go out of his way to make Sascha welcome when he arrives.

"I introduced him to an Australian girl and they're looking to settle down and build a life here in Australia," Ready said.

"The Lutz family and the Ready family are one family."
