Another snake bite at Australia Zoo

UPDATE 2.17PM: A particularly grumpy green tree snake has bitten two visitors in the space of a week at Australia Zoo.

Either that or today's bite was from a second offender.

Australia Zoo staff may never know the truth, but they happily confirmed that it was a non-venomous green tree snake that bit a visitor today.

The bite victim is understood to be in good spirits, laughing about the incident after she stood on the snake, giving it a fright.

Australia Zoo and its lush forest and waterways attract wild animals including snakes and other reptiles as well as critters living in enclosures.

EARLIER: A second person has been bitten by a snake at Australia Zoo in less than a week.

Emergency services have been called to the tourist attraction on Steve Irwin Way at 1.26pm today.

There are reports that a woman has been bitten by a snake.

There are no more details at this stage.

Last Monday a woman visiting the zoo was bitten by a green tree snake.

It was the first reported snake bite at the popular tourist attraction in its 46-year history.
