OVERSIZED furniture was all it took to send Brooke and Aimee home on The Block tonight.

The Melbourne cousins lost the second elimination challenge of the new Triple Threat season, which will see just three out of six newbie teams earn spots on The Block proper.

"Yeah it's disappointing. We tried so hard but it seemed to come down to a coffee table," Aimee said.

Brooke and Aimee were in strong shape going into their living/dining renovations after their bedroom was ranked the second-best in the first challenge.

The five teams had 48 hours to renovate a tiny living and dining space.

They were forced to scrap their raised platform because it didn't meet building codes, but it was their choice of furniture which ultimately sent the cousins home.

"I just don't think they've got the proportions right," judge Shaynna Blaze said.

"It's (TV stand) really overwhelming and the couch is really small; the coffee table is almost as big as the couch and doesn't work with it."

Sydney couple Josh and Charlotte secured their second win in a row, cementing their status as the team to beat.

Busselton siblings Luke and Ebony also impressed with their risky pink feature wall.

The remaining four teams will now have 72 hours to renovate a bathroom in the final elimination round.

Jess and Ayden: 18

Luke and Ebony: 17.5
