Armed robbers strike servo

POLICE are searching for two men who robbed an Eastern Heights service station at gun point in the early hours of Monday morning.

The men escaped with cash and around $300 worth of cigarettes after holding up the BP service station on Robertson Rd at 2.45am.

The doors were locked and the service station attendant was vacuuming when the men approached from outside.

They then smashed the window with a rifle, leaving a large crack in the glass.

One of the men waved the rifle and the attendant, fearing for his life, let them in.

CCTV footage of the incident shows one offender armed with the gun and dressed in dark blue shorts, a light blue singlet and blue cap then make his way to a cigarette cabinet while a large man wearing orange shorts went to the cash register and demanded money.

The men then left the building on foot, taking with them both cigarettes and cash.

The service station attendant was not harmed physically but was shaken by the incident.

He was sent home yesterday and has made a statement to police.
