Aussie mum in Iraq to rescue children is now missing

A SYDNEY mum who made a desperate journey to Iraq to rescue her two kidnapped children taken to the war-torn country by her ex-partner is now missing.

The woman - who can only be identified by the pseudonym Ms Alfarsi - entered the war-torn country to recover her six and eight-year-old children on November 14 last year. She has not been heard from since.

Her family lawyer said she has received information that led her to believe Ms Alfarsi is being held against her will in Iraq.

Ms Alfarsi's plight has been revealed in a Family Court judgment in which Justice Garry Foster dismissed the father of the children's application to have his name taken off an airport watch list that prevents him from leaving Australia.

The judgment reveals the children were removed from Australia by the father, who has been given the alias Mr Elhage, on September 29 in 2014. They have lived in Iraq with their paternal grandmother ever since.
