Aussie skipper has run-in with Byron Bay police

WALLABIES captain Michael Hooper has been involved in an incident in Byron Bay that attracted the attention of police, according to reports.

The Nine Network reported Hooper, 23, and a friend were out in the northern New South Wales coastal town in the early hours of Monday morning, when the friend jumped on a parked car.

A security guard called the police who arrived after Hooper and his friend had allegedly attempted to rip a signpost out of the ground.

It was understood police would seek to charge Hooper's friend, but not the Australian rugby captain (pictured) over the incident.

"About 1.30am today, two men, both aged 23, were walking along Bay St at Byron Bay," NSW police later said in a statement.

"The two men were seen to push over a signpost that was later repositioned without damage.

"Legal action is expected to be taken against the Manly resident in relation to the damaged car."
