Australian gender pay gap grows
THE GAP is growing between the amount of money Australian men and women are paid at work, a new report has found.
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency report, released Tuesday, showed the gender pay gap grew in the past year, with men now earning 24.7% more than women compared with 19.9% more last year.
It revealed many employers, despite hopes to address the gender pay gap, had done little to actually tackle it.
Only 13.6% of employers have an internal company strategy for flexible working.
Just 7.1% of companies had an overall gender equality strategy in place and only 13.2% had a strategy to support employees with family or caring responsibilities.
At the top of big businesses, less then one in 10 organisations had set a target to get more female board directors, despite women holding less than a quarter of directorships in Australia.
