PGA CEO calls feud 'minor'

AUSTRALIAN PGA CEO Brian Thorburn said the row between Robert Allenby and Geoff Ogilvy at the Hyatt Regency Coolum following the final round of the Australian PGA Championship was a "minor matter" and he did not expect the PGA to get involved.

The players stunned diners in the resort's packed Village Square on Sunday night when their President's Cup feud spilled over publicly.

"I haven't got too many details of it other than what I've read in the newspapers but if you judge it by the remarks of their managers it was just a little tiff and it's behind them and the world moves on," Thorburn  told the Sunshine Coast Daily.

"From all that was reported to me it was a very minor matter so as far as I'm concerned it has been dealt with by the two guys.

"As far as I understand that's the end of it."

Ogilvy was not impressed with Allenby publicly criticising some of his Presidents Cup teammates, of which he was one, after he failed to score a single point as one of Greg Norman's captain's picks.

Allenby was upset when Ogilvy tweeted: "warms the heart to see Robert playing so well this week" during his third round of the Australian PGA Championship.

Ogilvy said later his tweet was not sarcastic but Allenby, who dropped four shots in his last six holes, felt it was.

When Ogilvy challenged Allenby to put his hand up and just admit he played poorly things got heated.

A witness told AAP that Allenby invited Ogilvy "to step outside and settle it".

At least one glass was smashed during the argument before Allenby stormed off.
