B-double and three car crash north of Coffs halts traffic

PACIFIC Highway traffic north of Coffs Harbour is at a standstill following a collision between two vehicles and a B-double truck at a notorious black spot.

The incident occurred near the Split Solitary Way right hand exit.

Witnesses say a northbound Holden Commodore station wagon was merging into a right hand lane and braked suddenly.

The manoeuvre led to contact with a B-double truck travelling behind that was not able to stop in time.

Two other vehicles became involved.

Paramedics are at the scene but have reported no serious injuries.

However the female driver of the Commodore and a six-year-old female passenger have been transported to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for further attention.

Traffic in both directions has been halted with a northbound back-up already reaching the Luke Bowen overhead footbridge.

Police and RTA responders are at the scene and hope to restore traffic flow soon.

Substantial delays are expected in the area.
