Abducted baby found

UPDATE: A CHILD abduction alert was issued at 1.29pm when an eight-month-old baby boy was reported missing to police.

A man was seen taking the boy and was reported to have last been seen near the Buffalo Club, on Victoria Street, about midday.

Mackay police officers found the two a short time later, safe and well, a police spokesman said.

The baby was located at 1.55pm with his father in Queens Park, he said.

The alert was sent out to all media outlets and also posted on the Queensland Police Service Facebook site.

"Police had fears for the man's and child's safety at the time," the spokesman said.

Police were now speaking with the 21-year-old Mackay man in relation to other issues that have arisen from this incident, he said.

Police also thanked the media and the public for their assistance, he said.
