POLICE will this morning continue to excavate the backyard of a residence at Mount Nathan, in their search for missing mother Novy Chardon.

Forensic officers began the excavation of the backyard last night in a bid to recover a buried ute. They said they  hoped to find Ms Chardon's remains.

Ms Chardon was last seen in February last year and police fear she has been murdered.

Ms Chardon and her husband, John Chardon, a businessman from the Gold Coast, had agreed to divorce in lead-up to her disappearance.

Two days after his Ms Chardon vanished, Mr Chardon travelled to Indonesia on a prearranged business trip, where he has stayed with the couple's two young children.

Ms Chardon's Volvo SUV was found abandoned near the Nerang train station on Bowden Crt.
