Bad news for Broncos fans on eve of Cowboys' clash
JET-booted Brisbane Broncos speedster James Roberts has officially been grounded.
The pacey three-quarter has been rubbed out of Friday night's must-win semi-final and grand final rematch against the North Queensland Cowboys.
Roberts has been in plenty of headlines of late and his lash out at Titans player Ryan Simpkins in the ruck during last week's win over the Gold Coast has cost him the chance to lace up in what will be a blockbuster.
The NRL judiciary handed Roberts a one-week ban after being found guilty of a grade one contrary conduct charge which could end the 23-year-old's season unless the Broncos can find a way to win and keep their season alive.
The match review committee took only six minutes to hand down their verdict, arguing there had not been enough force in Roberts' kick to warrant a kicking charge, hence the contrary conduct label.
Fox Sports News reported Roberts was too disappointed following the verdict to speak to waiting media following the decision earlier tonight.
The talented youngster has bagged nine tries in 25 games for the Broncos this season after making the switch from the Gold Coast Titans.
He'd scored 14 tries in 14 games last season with the Titans during a breakout year which saw him crowned Dally M centre of the year.
