Barba steps off NRL field back to Mackay JRL grounds

RUGBY LEAGUE: Mackay's inaugural indigenous rugby league carnival was a success, capped off by an exciting grand final clash.

"It has been a great weekend, it has run smoothly,” organiser Neil Seden said.

"We have had good reports from all who attended, and I want to thank everyone involved in the event.”

In the grand final game of the carnival the Mackay Stallions clashed with the Argun Warriors.

"These were the two best teams in the carnival and they have a history against one another,” Seden said.

"We are fortunate to have two NRL players on the field in Ben Barba and Travis Waddell.

"For the other players it's a great chance to see the best in action.”

Former Mackay Junior and Cronulla Sharks star player Ben Barba led Mackay during the grand final.

"It was great to be back in Mackay and playing in front of everyone,” Barba said.

"I want to thank everyone that came out, the referees and Neil for organising this event.”
