Bears make their move

CLERMONT Bears snuck home to win 32-22 against Emerald Cowboys in Tieri at the weekend.

Bears assistant coach Wade Stanton gave full credit to the Cowboys who he said were unlucky to get pipped at the post.

“Cowboys probably played the better footy for 70 minutes but take nothing away from our boys with the training we’ve put in really paying off,” he said.

Tim Bleakley snared two tries for the Bears and Shaun Law, Leighton Little and Liam Williams scored one apiece.

Cowboys president Damon Walsh said it was a vast improvement from their previous week.

“I said we wanted to work on our defence which we did,” he said.

“We were in front with eight minutes to go then we made a few mistakes and that cost us the game but I’m very pleased with the improvement.”

Blayne Harling was outstanding both in attack and defence. Cam Valler, Jamie Belford and Chris Rohden were also strong.
