FOOTBALL superstar David Beckham has been mobbed at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport after arriving with his LA Galaxy teammates for the club's whirlwind tour of Australia.

Flying into the country on Sunday for the clash against the Melbourne Victory, Beckham was swamped by fans and media trying to catch a glimpse of the former England captain.

Under a heavy police and security escort, Beckham waved to fans and was happy to sign autographs while trying to work his way through the packed terminal.

Media found it hard to access Beckham amongst the melee but he said he was "very good" after travelling from the Galaxy's last port of call in the Philippines.

Around 30,000 tickets had been sold for the Galaxy-Victory match, which is potentially Beckham's final outing for the Galaxy ahead of a return to European football.

The Melbourne Victory play the LA Galaxy at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne tomorrow night.
