Birdman wins big at Critics' Choice Awards
BIRDMAN was the clear favourite at today's Critics' Choice Awards.
The comedy drama, about a washed-up actor trying to reboot his career on Broadway, took out seven awards including Best Actor and Best Actor in a Comedy for star Michael Keaton.
The 20th annual awards, which are decided by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, were held at the Hollywood Palladium and include several categories not featured at the Oscars, such as Best Young Actor.
Golden Globe favourite Boyhood was named Best Picture, one of four awards wins.
The Lego Movie, which has been trending on Twitter today because of its Oscars snub, was named Best Animated Feature.
Sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy, which is up for two Oscars next month, was named Best Action Movie and recognised for Best Hair & Makeup.
While director Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel tied Birdman for the most Oscars nominations this morning, it only took home three Critics' Choice Awards including Best Comedy.
