Blackwater wins rescue test

YOU hope their service is not needed while travelling on the road, but if you saw the Blackwater Queensland Fire and Rescue Service team at the weekend, you would rest assured we have the best rescue team in the region.

The Blackwater team competed at the Regional Road Crash Rescue Challenge held at the Rockhampton Showgrounds Complex on Saturday, and walked away as the overall winner as well as grabbing a handful of other awards.

"We won both challenges - the controlled and the entrapped, Best Team Leader and Best Paramedic," Blackwater team captain Brett Truelson said.

Seven teams from around the region went head to head and Blackwater proved they were top of the pack during exercises, which tested their rescue ability.

The Blackwater team will compete at the state challenge next year.
