NOOSA'S Kyle Blunden has helped propel Australia to its first podium position at the Motocross of Nations at St Jean d'Angely, France.
Blunden, who is now based in Sydney, is a team mechanic for the JDR Motorex Factory KTM Motocross team and has played a pivotal role in the success of ace rider Matt Moss, who claimed the Australian Pro Lites title at Coolum Beach in July.
Moss was selected as the third rider in the Australian team, alongside motocross icon Chad Reed and Brett Metcalfe.
Team USA claimed it's seventh Motocross of Nations Title in a row at the 65th Monster Motocross of Nations ahead of the host team, France and the Australian team.
Reed captured victory in the first race when he grabbed the holeshot with a blistering start.
Australia's highest paid athlete then held off a stellar field to give Australia the perfect start to the meet.
Moss continued a good support roll moving into the top 20 with 19th-place finish.
Metcalfe claimed seventh place in race two before backing up for a 10th-place effort in race three when Reed bagged seventh spot to secure the podium spot.
